Description
In-situ Terrazzo is a popular floor finish which can be made in various colours and designs. It consists of White Cement, marble powder (300 mesh) and coarse aggregates like marble chips in the ratio of 2.5:1:7 up to 2B chips & 2.5:1:6 for chips 2B and above. The marble chips are washed with water properly before mixing with cement. After laying the mortar on the floor, the surface is levelled applying uniform pressure. After the topping layer has hardened, polishing is done in the following 3 stages.
- The floor is polished with 60/80 no. Carborandum stone and grout. It is then cured for 3 days.
- Then it is polished with 120/80 no. stone.
- Finally it is polished with 320 no. stone.
A mix of 2.5:1:7 up to 2 B size chips (Cement: Marble Powder:Chips) is sufficient due to the high strength of Birla White against the Indian Standard requirement (IS 2114) of 3:1:7 Various designs can be obtained using glass/metal/plastic dividing strips and different coloured mortar mixes.
